wildfleurs of June 2026
Want an update of what wildflowers I’m spotting along the trails? Don’t worry, I’ve got your wildflower wishes covered!
Despite the blustery month reminiscent of my time in the PNW, June’s wildflower show proved to be worth the hype for getting out on the muddy trails. I saw new colors and arrangements from the early displays of balsam root and lupine to the tender wild orchids, larkspur, and prairie smoke. There were even new to me flowers to learn—anemone, blue eye grass, and chickweed. The photo carousel below contains the highlights.
I captured more than just wildfleurs this time around. Observing the bird activity around my home inspires and delights me. While journaling in the morning on my front porch, I hear meadowlarks, mountain bluebirds, robins, magpies, sparrows, and barn swallows all gossiping and swooping around.
In the evenings their calls compete with the crickets and are the soundtrack to watching the sunset while sippin’ tea and rockin’ on my porch. The precise dreams I imagined while designing my house to remind me of the sweet summer nights of my childhood growing up in the South. These moments are sweet indeed.
What wildlife have you been paying attention to lately? What flowers do you admire most in your garden? What morning or evening rituals settle you and feel sacred?
The Summer of Butterflies
Maybe it’s me. Or maybe it’s a sign. Either way, I deeply appreciate the copious amounts of the butterflies swirling around me so far this summer. Many have been patient enough for me to photograph them. Or maybe I’ve finally learned to be patient in stillness? Haha, who are we kidding?
